Partners 29/02/08
March 2008 has seen us take on another
world class brand in Heavac, the dutch bus heating and a/c suppliers

rolled out a nationwide support network with two other companies
controlling other parts of the country, these are our fellow network
partners Ransome Engineering near Ipswich and Cool Solution based in
Cardiff. Heavac have a long association to Carrier Sutrak and work in
partnership on many systems, by tapping into the UK Carrier Sutrak

Refrigerant Phase Out
19/02/05
Valeo develops CO2-based R744 air conditioning system
Valeo has announced that it has successfully
developed an environmentally-friendly air conditioning system which
meets future EU regulations. The system replaces the current HFC R134a
refrigerant used in car air conditioning systems with the R744
refrigerant and consequently eliminates the direct impact of
air-conditioning systems on global warming due to refrigerant leakage.
The Valeo R744 system - based on CO2 - was recently
tested on a demonstration vehicle at the SAE Alternate Refrigerant
Symposium in Phoenix, USA and successfully concluded three days of
formal tests with ambient temperatures up to 43 degrees C in both city
traffic and highway driving conditions.
"We expect to see these systems in the market by
2009", said Thierry Morin, Valeo Chairman & CEO.
The replacement of current refrigerants with R744 is
claimed to represent a significant technology breakthrough due to the
significantly higher pressure requirements of the air conditioning
cycle. The environmental benefits are achieved due to the R744
refrigerant having a ‘Global Warming Power’ more than a thousand times
lower than the current HFC R134a. In addition to the environmental
benefits, there are servicing cost benefits for the automotive
industry as there will not be a need to recover and recycle the
refrigerant at the end of life.
An EU regulation that will lead to a ban on the use
of HFC R134a in 2011 model passenger cars sold in Europe is currently
being finalised.
R134a Price Increase
19/02/05
R134a, the
refrigerant for the motor industry has ceased production in the Europe
meaning that demand outstrips supply, our suppliers expect the price
of R134a to double over the next six months. The major manufacturer
Ineosfluor says on its website "The
world’s first HFC 134a plant was brought on line, in record time at
INEOS Fluor’s Runcorn site, in October 1990. In February 2001 the
company converted this plant to manufacture both KLEA 134a (HFC 134a)
and KLEA 125 (HFC125). This plant will now be converted to sole
manufacture of 125 providing refrigerant in 2006." Airconco
Ltd are monitoring the situation and will not be passing on these
increases to our customers for the time being.
